Order & Cancellation Policy
Who's responsible for what, and exactly what happens when plans change.
Who's responsible for what
- Sellers are responsible for the seafood itself: product quality and freshness, accurate listings, being at the pickup location during the window, and honoring confirmed reservations. Quality problems go to the seller first.
- Buyers are responsible for showing up during the pickup window and cancelling ahead of time if plans change — cancelling is one tap on the order page.
- SeafoodNearMe provides the mechanics: discovery, reservations, and payment handling (card holds, charges, and refunds). We don't catch, handle, or inspect the seafood.
Cancellation
Buyers can cancel a reservation themselves from the order page while it's waiting for confirmation or confirmed: the card hold is released (or the payment refunded in full, including the reservation fee), the seller is notified, and the seafood goes back into the listing. Once the seller has started preparing the order, one-tap cancellation closes — call the seller to work something out.
Sellers can decline a reservation they can't fulfill, or offer a smaller amount, before pickup. Buyers are never charged for seafood they didn't receive.
Expiry
Sellers have a limited window to confirm a new reservation. If they don't respond in time, the reservation expires automatically: the hold on the buyer's card is released, nothing is charged, and the seafood becomes available again.
No-shows
If a buyer doesn't pick up during the window, the seller can record a no-show. The buyer is notified and their payment is released — there is currently no no-show charge. The seafood stays with the seller. No-shows are recorded, and a future policy may attach consequences to repeat no-shows.
When something goes wrong
Use "Need help with this order?" on the order page. It routes each situation to the fix: cancelling, calling the seller, or recording a report against the order for review.
