Not enough recent observations
We publish a price range only when at least 3 comparable observations share the same grade, preparation, and unit within the most recent 14 days. We do not fill gaps with estimates.
How to read this index
These figures summarize recent prices posted in marketplace listings. They are not official market prices, appraisals, price recommendations, or completed sale prices.
We consider only the newest observation for each listing. If that snapshot is eligible, we compare it with observations that have the same normalized product, grade, preparation, and unit. The central price is the median, which is less sensitive to unusually high or low listings than an average.
Only observations from approved sellers that showed positive availability and had not expired at observation time are eligible.
Origin is never inferred. “Chesapeake Harvested” or “Chesapeake Farmed” appears only when a seller supplied that classification; otherwise the observation is labeled “Local Seller.”
